Building engagement on social media can be tricky when you’re super short on time and struggling to just get some content out on a regular basis. But setting time aside to engage with your communities is just as important as sharing content. It builds trust, increases engagement, and encourages people to share more about their relationship with your cause.
So, how do you find time for engagement when you’re juggling every comms task under the sun? These five engagement tips for tiny teams will help you engage consistently and build your social media communities.
Five engagement tips for tiny teams
1. Allocate time. Approach engagement like you would any other task on your list by allocating time to it. Set aside a minimum of 15 minutes per day to like, share and comment on posts as relevant.
2. Set a timer. We all know how easy it is to get lost down a rabbit hole or get distracted once you log in to your accounts. So set a timer to keep you focused and aware of how long you’ve spent on your platforms.
3. Be generous with likes and comments. Social media is a two way street, so make sure you like and comment on as many relevant posts as possible. Find them via your notifications, hashtags related to your cause, or by checking in with similar organisations.
4. Create template responses. You could use these template responses as a starting point and build on them over time. These are intended to be used as a starting point, make sure to personalise them as much as possible.
5. Be yourself. If you’re stuck for what to say, take a breath and remember to be yourself. Think about how you would reply to a comment if you were networking in real life and let your personality shine through.
